Irish newcomer Cheesmore has dropped his first single of 2021, ‘Suffocating’. The track opens with distant samples and chattering hi-hats that lead us into an atmospheric piece of lo-fi electronic music, underpinned by acoustic guitars and a delicate lead vocal. The chorus takes a more experimental turn as Cheesmore’s vocal becomes more ethereal and insistent triplet patterns emerge on string synths. The Dublin-based producer and songwriter dropped his Eps Warmish and Becoming last year to positive reviews, so we’re hoping for another extended release in 2021. -Dan Peeke
